The warm climate of Florida has always been inviting to retirees and seniors. In the Greater Orlando area, active-adult or 55+ communities are flourishing. Orlando retirement communities offer homes for sale as low as $160,000. Many of the communities feature indoor and outdoor activities, and maintenance-free living.

As an experienced Licensed Physical Therapist for 15 years. Please consider your minor medical diagnosis or any related past medical history to be one of your priority in Buying your second home or retirement home. Here are my tips to the baby boomer generation who are relocating to Central Florida Community.

1. If you are buying a condo, do not buy the second floor unless there is an elevator.

2. Do not buy a two story home if the master's bedroom is upstairs.

3. Consider buying a home that has a flat terrain to go back and forth to the mailbox. Mailbox should be convenient, close to front door and safe with few obstacles such as high curbs and steps.

4.  Consider carpet not hard wood floor in your bedroom  or rooms that you spend most of your walking especially if you have a history of arthritis or lower extremity pain or joint pain.

5. Avoid a house that has lots of steps or stairs. Unless the home has an elevator.

6. Avoid high traffic and consider a community that allows you to use a high brid golf cart or electric mini car

7. Buy a home that is convenient or close to the Grocery store and hospitals.
